SCOTT
Scott DeFilio passed away in November of 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Scott was a loving husband, father, and friend, contributing large amounts of his time back to his community. Scott volunteered as a member of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and the New Haven Manufacturers Association, as well as serving on the Board of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut and the Farms Country Club. Scott's legacy continues as his wife and children look to help children affected by all cancers by raising awareness to hopefully find a cure.
Scott's biggest passion was watching and coaching the Wallingford Hawks Youth Hockey Association, enabling him to watch and coach his three sons, Anthony, Lorenzo and Marco. The Scott DeFilio Memorial Golf Tournament was created by friends and family to assist in the educational needs of Scott's 3 boys as well as assist in donating money to charities like Chad Tough, which is dedicated to pediatric brain cancer research.
This is the 7th annual Scott DeFilio golf tournament and a lot has happened in the 7 years since our inaugural tournament. Scott's oldest son Anthony is beginning his junior year in the fall at Fairfield University, where his father graduated, to continue his legacy. At Fairfield, he is pursuing a degree in accounting, following in Scott's footsteps. Anthony is a member of the club hockey team at Fairfield and enjoys fishing and golf. We are constantly reminded of Scott's dry sense of humor and determination thanks to Anthony! Lorenzo, Scott's middle son, has become a spitting image of our Scotty; the mannerisms, walk, loud expressions, body shape and golf game, remind us every day of Scott. Lorenzo ended his high school hockey career with a State Championship win and received numerous academic and athletic accolades. Lorenzo will be attending Fairfield University with his brother Anthony this year! He will also pursue a career in accounting. Scott's youngest, Marco, will be a freshman at Sheehan high school in the fall, and has developed Scott's vibrant vocabulary as well as hockey acumen. Anyone who knows Marco will contend that he is to become a high-powered attorney or CFO as he has a bold personality and you'll always know when Marco's in your presence, whether it's a colorful word or snide remark that he graces you with. Finally, Scott's wife, Gina, has been the rock of the family for the past seven years raising 3 boys and 2 dogs while successfully maintaining the solid foundation established by her and Scott. Gina is a selfless mother who dedicates all her time to her boys and works to ensure they can achieve everything in life
